Disaster recovery
& backup
Disaster Recovery and backup; two different things that are sometimes seen as the same. The distinction is often not completely clear for organizations.
Disaster Recovery is a collection of policies and procedures to ensure the continuity of IT infrastructure and the (business-critical) applications running on it after a disaster has occurred. ATTComputer can work with you to ensure the availability and continuity of your IT infrastructure in the event of a disaster. Disaster Recovery is possible at many layers in the IT infrastructure; consider, for example, replication in the storage layer, virtualization layer or in the application layer. The scenario used depends on the availability and continuity requirements you set. Based on this, ATTComputer can draw up a Disaster Recovery plan.
Backup is the storage and/or archiving of data with a predefined policy. Data backup is in fact copying existing data to prevent data loss due to human error or IT failure. In the recent past, backup data was often stored and safeguarded on tapes with associated tape libraries, but due to increasingly affordable storage capacity on disk and easier management, backup data is increasingly being stored on disk; also called backup-to-disk. An important aspect of backup is the retention policy, which is sometimes related to legal regulations.
